3 2 Terms to Know! Army Civilian Resume Builder: web tool that anyone can use to create, edit, and submit a resume to the Centralized Resumix Database. Centralized Resumix Database: where an applicant’s resume is filed for consideration for Resumix announcements Self Nomination: process for an applicant to express an interest in a specific vacancy announcement ANSWER: (Applicant Notification System Web- Enabled Response); the place where applicants can view their resumes, supplemental data, and status of self-nominations

4 3 Army Resume Builder Centralized Resumix Database The Resume Builder is a database just for you, for your use, to build and edit your resume! (CPOC personnel cannot access your resume in the Resume Builder.) The CPOCs use this Database to issue referral lists for the 6 regions identified above. (Korea and Pacific CPOCs have separate databases, but will migrate to the Cental Database later.) The resume you have on file in the Centralized Database is the one you can view in ANSWER! ANSWER You must SUBMIT your resume to the Centralized Resumix Database in order to receive consideration for selfnominations you have submitted. SC SW NENC EU W

5 4 STEPS TO RECEIVE RESUMIX CONSIDERATION STEP 1 - Prepare a resume using Resume Builder and submit it (applicant) STEP 2 - Watch for announcements on Army’S CPOL web site. If interested, submit a self–nomination (applicant) STEP 3 - Referral Process (CPOC) STEP 4 - Use ANSWER to get feedback (applicant)

6 5 STEP 1 PREPARE/SUBMIT A RESUME Create your Resume using the Resume Builder and SAVE it to the Resume Builder Database Submit your resume to a CPOC - there are 6 CPOC’s currently utilizing the Centralized Resumix Database

7 6 BEFORE YOU GET STARTED APPLICANT TIPS 1. COLLECT BACKGROUND INFORMATION FOR YOUR RESUME a. Position Descriptions of your current or past jobs b. A copy of your previous applications (612, 171, Easy ACCES Resume, or resume) c. Performance plans and performance evaluations d. List of Completed Education and Training e. List of special projects, accomplishments, or special awards f. Electronic copy of latest resume (if available).

Make an outline of key characteristics, key terminology, & key contributions d. Focus on last ten (10) years of experience e. Maintain your own personnel/experience file f. Keep track of job applications and results - learn from the feedback provided g. Learn about automation tools and how to use them h. Take your time in developing YOUR Resume

25 24 Accessing TIP Request TIP Request can be accessed from the subject index on the AMCOM intranet home page (https://intranet2.redstone.army.mil) or by using the web address: (tips.redstone.army.mil). If you already have a login name and password, enter them and select LOG IN. If you don’t have a login name and password, select NEW USER and fill out and save the request form. CIC will email your login name and password to you.

26 25 Filling Out a TIP Request for Resume Training After logging into TIP Request select “Catalog” from the menu on the left side of the screen. Enter Resume Builder Hands On Training in the course title field. Select “Continue.” On the next screen click once on the catalog number RBHOT. On the next screen highlight the schedule you want and select “Request.” Complete the next two screens and save.

27 26 STEP 2 WATCH FOR ANNOUNCEMENTS IF INTERESTED, SUBMIT SELF-NOMINATIONS *To be considered for a Resumix announcement, you must have your resume on file in the Resumix Database and you must submit a self- nomination. Both of these steps must be completed by midnight of the closing date!

43 42 REFERRAL LISTS CPOC will send an Email to the Selecting Official’s AKO account. This Email will provide a secure web link to view the referral list and the resumes. A copy will be furnished to CPAC, EEO The selecting official can share the Email (and link) with selection panel members, reviewers, and others involved in selection process. Only the selecting official can make a selection using the secure web site.

The use of the Army Resume Builder ensures that your resume is developed in a uniform manner and conforms to the proper format for processing. Q. How do I find the Army Resume Builder? A. The Army Resume Builder can be accessed through the Army Home Page at www.cpol.army.mil. At the Home Page click on Employment and then Resume Builder.

58 57 FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Q. How will I know that my resume has been processed? A. Once you have completed your resume using the Army Resume Builder you will be prompted to save your resume. Once saved you will then be prompted to send your resume to a specific Civilian Personnel Operations Center for consideration for specific job vacancies. Please be sure to follow the instructions! You can then check ANSWER to see if your resume has been received and processed.

59 58 FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Q. How can I change or update my resume? A. Log on the Army Home Page at www.cpol.army.mil, click on Employment and then select Edit existing resume from the menu. Once you enter the User Id, PIN, and SSN your existing resume will be retrieved from the database and you can edit any or all of the information. DON’T FORGET TO SAVE CHANGES. Once you have completed this step you will then be prompted to send your resume to a specific Civilian Personnel Operation Center.

60 59 FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQs) Q. WHAT HAPPENS IF I LOSE MY PASSWORD! A. The Army’s Resume Builder and ANSWER use the same ID and password. Both applications have a password retrieval feature. It is EXTREMELY important for you to remember your Userid, Pin and your “hint” question! Q. How can I track what jobs I have been considered for, was I referred, and what happened to the job I was interested in? A. Log on the Army Home Page at www.cpol.army.mil, click on Employment and then select ANSWER. Click on the Jobs Applied tab, then click on the Self noms Recvd tab to verify your self nom was recvd. Click on the View Status tab to view the status of each self nom.

61 60 FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQs) Q.Will I still need to provide supporting documentation to the CPOC? A.NO, supporting documentation is not required when you self nominate. For example: duplicate copies of the resume, DD214’s, SF50;s, transcripts, etc. will not be required until a selection is made. Once contact has been made to the selectee, the documentation will be requested at that time.
