Using Chopsticks These Chinese cooking utensils are not strictly essential since you probably have something in your kitchen that can be used for these purposes. DO NOT cross you chopsticks, in China this is a symbol of death. When laying on the table, normally on the chopstick stand, they should lay parallel to each other. DO NOT cross you chopsticks, in China this is a symbol of death DO NOT stab your food with the chopsticks to pick it up, this is really bad manners.

Famous Beliefs A philosopher, Confucius believed that knives are a symbol of disrespect and they did not belong at the dinner table.

Traditional foods and desserts Traditional foods in China depend on the Chinese diet: Fresh vegetables grains, noodles, and fresh meat. The Chinese also enjoy foods as egg rolls, stir fried vegetables, and ramen. At the end of meals, the Chinese would eat a fortune cookie for good fortune.

Chinese utensils The common utensils used at a Chinese meal is a rice bowl, chopsticks, a small sauce plate, a Chinese porcelain soup spoon, and a tea cup.
