The Problem There is a growing need for quality content in the media industry. But good freelancers are hard to find.

The Solution is Journolaunch A database of publications that is circulated to freelance journalists. We identify top freelancers and recommend them to publishers.

How it Works Publications pay to be listed in the database, which is made available for free to journalists who sign up. When a freelancer is connected to a publisher through our system, we take a small cut of the payment.

Outreach & Development Direct market to publications put the database in front of them and show them how freelancers will use it to connect with them. Reach out to journalism organizations and journalism schools to build freelance network.

Competitors Mediabistro.com. Publishers get access to a database of freelance journalists, but journalists must pay. Currently only about 800 people have profiles. Elance and other freelance sites. They are not aimed specifically at journalists and are primarily jobs boards.
