Cardiovascular Imaging Part I: Visualizing Cardiac Anatomy Vincent Brinkman, MD Division of Cardiology The Ohio State University College of Medicine

Objectives Be able to identify the cardiac chambers, valves, aorta, pulmonary arteries on chest x-ray, echocardiogram, CT and MRI. Gain familiarity with these cardiovascular imaging techniques. Note: All of the Cardiac Medical Illustrations were adapted from Patrick J. Lynch and C. Carl Jaffe, (Yale University, 2006) and used under their Creative Commons license.

Cardiac Imaging - Summary Cardiac imaging is useful to image structure and visualize the anatomy of both normal and abnormal structures. The next several slides are a quiz to assess your basic understanding of cardiac imaging. In our next talk, we will discuss how these techniques can be used to diagnose heart conditions and provide information into the hemodynamics of the heart.
