All: Be able to identify properties of 3D shapes (5b) Most: Be able to draw accurate nets for cuboids (5a) Some: Be able to draw accurate nets of other 3D shapes (6c)
2
In pairs... Can you write a mathematical definition of each of the following words: o Faces o Vertex/vertices o Edges
3
Can you write a mathematical definition of each of the following words: o Faces – the individual surfaces of a 3D shape o Vertex/vertices – corners o Edges – an edge joins one vertex with another

Nets What is the net of a shape? A net is a pattern that you can cut and fold to make a model of a 3D shape. If I cut the shape out and folded it along the lines, what 3D shape would I make?
5
What 3-D shape would these nets make? AB C D

Drawing nets 6cm 2cm 3cm First draw the base. This is 2 cm by 6cm. Next draw the side of the shape. The sides are 3cm by 6cm. You then need to draw the two ends of the cuboid. These are 2cm by 3cm DON’T FORGET THE TOP! The top is the same as the bottom – 2cm by 6cm
