5 First Aid A lways report accidents, injuries, fires L ocate 1 st aid kit, emergency equipment, telephone & know how to use them L earn what to do in cases of accidents, injuries, fires.

7 Fire Safety and Heating 1.Know how to use lab equipment (bunsen burner). 2.Keep combustible materials AWAY from heat source. 3.Never reach across flame. 4.Never heat a liquid in a closed container. 5.Remember glassware looks cool

8 Chemical Safety 1.Never touch, taste, or smell a chemical. 2.Read and double-check chemical labels before using. Use only chemicals needed 3.Keep all containers closed when not in use. 4.Never return chemicals to original container (cross contamination). Excess chemicals should be disposed via teacher instructions. 5.Wash chemical spills with plenty of WATER. WAFT ALWAYS add ACID

9 Animal/Plant Safety 1.During dissections ALWAYS cut away from body. 2.Inform teacher of allergies before lab or activity. After Lab Requirements 1.Clean up work area. Remember to follow teacher instructions when disposing e xcess chemicals. 2.Turn off burners and hot plates when not in use. 3.Wash hands. (Please use soap)
