3
Objective The point of today is to… Explain why I am taking this class.
4
Why Chemistry? Why Mastery?
5
Take One This is your time to focus and relax Silent for one minute Can close eyes if you feel like it Sitting up straight is best But you can even put your head on the desk…this is the ONLY time you can In one minute I will turn the lights back on and we will resume

It’s Demo Time heat C 3 H 8 O (l)+ O 2 (g) CO 2 (g) + H 2 O (l)
14
1. Observation The isopropyl alcohol burns like a candle.
15
2. Ask a Question How does the size of the container and the shaking affect the burning?
16
3. Background information What do you know about the chemicals involved?
17
4. Form a hypothesis Educated guess. What do you think is going to happen?
18

22
Logic Saves the Day Logical thinking is one skill we will practice in chemistry It’s a transferable skill –What does that mean? –Why is it a good thing?
23
Homework Complete any unfinished class work Do the Scientific Method in Practice Materials by Wed –See me immediately if this is a problem Signed syllabus and letter home by Fri
24
Daily Quiz Complete your daily quiz silently. When time is up, we will grade them.
25
Daily Quiz Graded On the paper you grade write: “Graded by (your name)” Correct an wrong answers. Write the total correct at top. 1.B 2.D 3.C 4.G 5.F 6.A 7.E
