Inadequate Projector Specs Lumens ANSI Lumens is a measure of WHITE light level ONLY There is no agreed method now to spec color performance Different technologies have different strengths Contrast ratio No agreement on measurement methods So, comparing specs may not be accurate – “apples and oranges” Ratio! Highly dependent on “black” level, i.e., ambient levels May not be important anyway for business/education apps Video APL is 40% Computer is 70% At any moment, human eye can only discern about 100:1 contrast In real world settings, actual measured contrast levels <20:1 What else do customers request? inputs, monitor, weight, size, noise level, power usage Lumens ANSI Lumens is a measure of WHITE light level ONLY There is no agreed method now to spec color performance Different technologies have different strengths Contrast ratio No agreement on measurement methods So, comparing specs may not be accurate – “apples and oranges” Ratio!
