GLOBE strives to expand international student inquiry-based research using GLOBE data and other scientific data sets, facilitating student-scientist collaborative projects. Global Learning and Observations to Benefit the Environment GLOBE Mission To promote the teaching and learning of science, enhance environmental literacy and stewardship, and promote scientific discovery.Goals: – Improve student achievement across the curriculum with a focus on student research in environmental and Earth system science; – Enhance awareness and support activities of individuals throughout the world to benefit the environment; – Contribute to scientific understanding of Earth as a system; and – Inspire the next generation of global scientists. GLOBE Vision A worldwide community of students, teachers, scientists, and citizens working together to better understand, sustain, and improve Earth’s environment at local, regional, and global scales.

4. Internationally, GLOBE is implemented through bilateral agreements between the U.S. government and the governments of GLOBE’s 109 Intl. Partner Countries. Country Coordinators direct activities in their country/region Within the U.S., GLOBE is implemented through mutual agreements (MOUs) with individual State Partners. 140 U.S. Partners representing 42 states plus Washington D.C. and 2 U.S. Territories (Puerto Rico / Virgin Islands) GLOBE Partner Countries Partners recruit, train and mentor GLOBE teachers to support student research activities.

5. GLOBE: An International Program GLOBE is a Network of Countries collaborating together to achieve the agreed upon vision, mission and goals of the Program. Although some aspects of the Program are funded by NASA and NSF, and facilitated by the U.S. Department of State, each country funds their own implementation. Scientifically and financially, the shared responsibility of the GLOBE Program around the world ensures its sustainability.
