Chapter 3 Setting Up a Document Create a new document The New Document dialog box lets you define many aspects of a document, including number of pages and paper size LESSON 1 3

Chapter 3 Setting Up a Document Create a new document Transform palette –describes physical characteristics of selected object (size, rotation, etc) –X Location and Y Location refer to the horizontal and vertical location of selected object LESSON 1 4 Y Location text box Width text box Height text box X Location text box

Chapter 3 Setting Up a Document Create a new document Transform palette –each object has a bounding box with 9 points –proxy icon in Transform palette has corresponding points –select point on bounding box to view its location in palette LESSON 1 5 Transform palette describes center point of selected object since center reference point is highlighted

Chapter 3 Setting Up a Document Create Master Pages Master pages –template pages that you design and base new document pages on –gives publication a consistent look –makes editing easy –smart way to apply automatic page numbers, headers and footers LESSON 2 6

Chapter 3 Setting Up a Document Create Master Pages Automatic page numbers –click Type on menu bar, point to Insert Special Character, click Auto Page Number New CS2 feature: Move Pages –click the Pages palettes list arrow, then click Move Pages –Choose settings in the Move Pages dialog box LESSON 2 7

Chapter 3 Setting Up a Document Create Master Pages Use Pages palette to apply master pages –drag master page icon on top of page icon or to a spread –you can create a new master page based on another master page –new master will appear identical to the original master –modify the elements on the new master LESSON 2 8

Chapter 3 Setting Up a Document Modify Master Pages and Document Pages LESSON 5 17 To modify pages in a document, make changes to the master page –all pages with that master will be automatically updated Making changes to individual pages will not affect the master –press [Shift][Ctrl] to select master page items on individual pages
