The subject of a sentence is what the sentence is about. It usually performs the action of the verb. Simple Subject The main word/word group that tells who or what the sentence is about. Ex: My silly sister Sally screamed at the mailman. S V Complete Subject The complete subject + all of the describing words that go along with it. Ex: My silly sister Sally screamed at the mailman.

Predicates Simple Predicate The verb The main word/word group that tells something about the subject. Ex. Many people will listen with interest to facts about bugs. Complete Predicate The verb + all words that complete the verb and modify its meaning. Ex. Many people will listen with interest to facts about bugs.
