Kennedy and Domestic Affairs Kennedy attracted many young and talented people to Washington, including his brother Robert. JFK named Robert the attorney general at the age of 35.

Kennedy and Domestic Affairs Best known for his “New Frontier” agenda. The New Frontier included: -more $ to education -programs to end poverty -tax cuts to stimulate economic growth -more $ for defense -laws to end racial discrimination -to beat the Soviets in the space race

So, was Kennedy’s “New Frontier” successful? -Congress blocked much of his agenda. -Did convince Congress to boost defense spending by 20%. -Did not get his tax cuts passed. -Kennedy did not do much on civil rights in his first two years. -Outraged by the violence he saw, he submitted a broad civil rights bill to Congress. -His civil rights bill did not pass. -On July 20, 1969, America landed astronauts on the moon through the Apollo space program.
