Town Facts The town of Santiago is a large province directly south of Puerto Plata, it is home of the DR’s tobacco and cigar industry The Capital City is Santiago De los Caballeros, which some people often call it DR’s second city. Santiago de los Caballeros translates to Saint James of the Knights.

Town Facts Cont. It was founded in 1495 during the first wave of the European colonization of the New World.

Hermanos Patino Bridge The Hermanos Patino Bridge is both the oldest bridge in the city connecting the north and the south sides of the city.

The Culture In the town of Santiago they have many ways to celebrate their culture.

Climate January and December are the coolest months and July and August are the warmest Tropical Climate – heat, humidity, and cloudy and rain.
