Origins of Pathfinder n Part of Government’s Working for Communities Programme (May 1998) n Broad objective is to test new approaches to local service delivery in priority areas n Two early Pathfinders launched in Greater Easterhouse and West Edinburgh (Dec 1998) n 11 further Pathfinders designated April 1999

Youth Tracker Target Group Young people who are not benefiting from existing services. school non-attendees early school leavers young people in social work day care school leavers with unknown destinations

Youth Tracker Aims co-ordinate a coherent support service for vulnerable young people track identified young people from school onwards decrease “scheme hopping” and number of unknown destinations to build a partnership between the community, service users and key agencies
