1. The Real World Issue (cont.) Don’t dedicate a lot of time describing the issue Have prepared handouts if a large degree of background knowledge is required to understanding your issue

2. The Knowledge Issue Try to think of an obvious (and not tenuous) knowledge issue connected to your real world example Sometimes it is easier to phrase your knowledge issue as a question

2. The Knowledge Issue (cont.) For example: 1. To what extent should we accept knowledge by authority? 2. Do those who possess knowledge have an obligation to use it?

3. Explore the knowledge issue Explain what it means in general terms- put it into your own words Then describe the relationship between the issue and the real world example Integrate the Ways of Knowing- Perception, Language, Emotion & Reason

3. Explore the knowledge issues Consider counter claims: One of the ways to do this is to take a particular stance on the issue- argue for one side The consider counter claims but avoid a……. debate

4. Apply knowledge claim to other AoKs/issues For example; To what extent should we accept knowledge by authority? Science? History? Ethics/Religion?
