To my understanding, honesty is more a reflection of one’s inner virtue, which is the best part of human nature. From my perspective, honesty, regarded as a vital virtue in ancient China, still shines today when we deal with daily affairs. Modern society, featuring coldness and full of doubt, deadly requires it. para 1 argument (opinion)

I can’t agree more with the quote. Admittedly, sometimes tricks can bring you with temporary profit. Honesty, however, can build up a stronger bond between people. Admittedly, honesty is what it takes to form a real and precious friendship as well as build up a good reputation. Regardless of how much wealth you own or how much knowledge you acquire, honesty is a valuable character which will bring others’ respect to you.

Well known is the story of a little goatherd who cheated the villagers again and again by crying out "the wolf is coming" ending up being swallowed when the wolf really came. Had Walton played dishonest tricks during his early-year sales, how could he step up to the peak of a retail empire? para 2 supporting details (examples)

The last thing you should do after making mistakes is to tell ties. Well-known is the story that the boy enjoyed saying “wolves are coming” ended up losing all his sleep, even his life. Instead, admitting breaking the neighbor's window bravely made Lincoln a reliable person in others’ eyes, which laid a foundation for his success. A naughty boy, Washington, cut down his father’s favorite cherry tree by accident. Instead of making up lies like other kids, he admitted his fault bravely, ready to receive any punishment. However, much to his surprise, he gained his father’s forgiveness without punishment simply because of his honesty. Years later, he became President of America. Honesty may not be the only reason for his success, but it does matter.

Similar stories happened in western countries as well. George Washington once honestly told his people the terrible situation they confronted and the numerous enemies they had to fight against. Surprisingly, his men did not hold back. Instead, his honesty brought him with people’s support and the victory of the war. What the instance illustrates is that honesty leaves us not only better partnership with others, but also the victory of a war, even makes a difference to the world.

Never feel afraid to admit what you did wrong and be brave to shoulder our responsibilities. Honesty is a virtue which enables us to establish an ever-lasting relationship. para 3 conclusion

I can’t agree more with this point of view. Honesty can always make a person popular and happy. But if you tell a lie and people find it out, you are likely to end up with many negative consequences. You can’t be trusted again and you will feel sorry all the time. Take myself for example. I brought in a cheat sheet during the last exam and luckily I didn’t get caught. This, however, didn’t mean I had gotten away with that. I felt that everybody gave me a disgusted look when the result was announced. How ashamed I was and finally I confessed to the teacher. Now I know that being dishonest simply make life more difficult and that honesty is the best policy.

People nowadays tend to lose this precious virtue in their way of pursuing profits. However, even with the rapid development of economy, honesty is the last thing that we should ignore, for it not only lead us to behave correctly in social life, but also win us popularity and reputation. To put it another way, honesty is exactly what it takes to make us competitive. Take Washington as an instance. Born in an ordinary family, he was cultivated (brought up) to be honest from an early age. Little Washington once cut down his father’s favorite tree, yet after a hard struggle on his mind, he admitted his fault frankly to his father, which unexpectedly win forgiveness instead of criticism. There’s no denying that honesty was deeply rooted in Washington’s mind, which served as a foundation stone in his way to becoming a great president.
