Students will move from an inductive approach to deductive methods of proof in their study of two- and three- dimensional geometric figures. Reasoning skills will be emphasized and students will broaden their use of the coordinate plane. Appropriate technology, from manipulative to calculators and application software, should be used regularly for instruction and assessment. Course Objectives: See my web site.

Grading Standards: Tests- 50% Homework/Classwork – 25% Vocabulary/Vocabulary quizzes – 25% Tests – Tests will be CUMULATIVE and will be given at the end of each Chapter and/or Topic. In addition, students are expected to keep organized notebooks in this class and a Notebook Test will be given at the end of EVERY six weeks. BEING ABSENT FOR THE REVIEW DOES NOT EXCUSE YOU FROM THE ANNOUNCED TEST! Homework/Classwork – Homework will be assigned EVERY DAY. You will have homework quizzes, both announced and unannounced, and I will check homework at least twice a week or more if needed. Vocabulary/Vocabulary Quizzes- Vocabulary will be given at the beginning of each chapter. I will collect and grade it. Vocabulary quizzes will be given the day before each Chapter Test. This will include vocabulary from the current material and formulas learned throughout the semester.

If the absences are marked UNEXCUSED, the child’s highest possible grade on a homework/classwork/vocabulary will be a 70. **Arrangements to make up missed work is the responsibility of the STUDENT. A student has 2 days for every day they miss to make up classwork/homework/vocabulary. If a students misses a test, they have ONE week to make it up. Any work not made up by the deadline will become a zero.
