2 Some facts  From around 1965 until today, the number of churches in Boston has grown from ~300 (1970) to 575 (2010)  The percentage of the city’s population in churches is estimated to have increased from ~3% to ~14%.  This has been has been the longest period of church planting in Boston, despite a sharp decline in the number of mainline, established churches © 2012 Emmanuel Gospel Center

3 Growth  Many of these growing churches are smaller and often go unnoticed.  It’s not just the numbers that are growing. Growth is also evidenced by: growing unity increased prayer maturing church systems strong and trained leadership © 2012 Emmanuel Gospel Center

5 Why it’s ‘quiet’  No one expected this.  No one was working to make it happen.  Many ministers working in the city were even unaware of this growth. Today we call this phenomenon the Quiet Revival © 2012 Emmanuel Gospel Center

6 Its significance  It is ongoing.  It is producing significant growth.  It is changing the city of Boston.  It is part of a world-wide phenomenon. © 2012 Emmanuel Gospel Center
