President attended IURPA event and has been elected as Exco member and representative for Africa Louise Muller President of IMFO now on Executive Committee Closer cooperation with IMFO suggested Some branches had recorded better attendance Eskom asked to assist in Mpumalanga Branch. William Olivier to represent SARPA at AMEU. NEW DEVELOPMENTS

Drive to develop specification for revenue protection service providers that Municipalities can include in tender documents. Workshop planned to develop specification document President to get reported loss statistics from NERSA. Best paper award to ZESCO at convention. Decision to move next convention to August. Convention to be in Mbombela. NEW DEVELOPMENTS

The President highlighted the fact that we need to increase the impact that SARPA is making, in order to ensure that members see the value of joining the association Therefore, that the main SARPA strategy for the next year should be to increase membership and Ensure branch events are well organized and that Need to do more to advertise the training strategy Closer co-operation with IMFO suggested at Branch level STRATEGY

New membership fees was finalized and invoices and information regarding the new value added initiative sent out. New membership fee structure is a success. Seems to be adopted by members. Two days of free training into the main member value proposition with the provision that the member organisation pays for S&T of the facilitator and provides a venue. Decision of handing out of copies of invoices at Branch meetings are seemingly working FINANCE

Meeting held with Affiliate members to establish their needs and assist them to structure internally and determine problems Issues discussed:- - The sponsorship procedure at meetings differ in Branches - Need for invoices - No need for an Affiliate Committee / work closely AMEU - Resurgence of Gauteng branch meeting - Quarterly meetings to be held to discuss strategy Affiliates to place articles in the SARPA newsletter Affiliates Members

Decision to hold branch meetings in tandem with IMFO meetings in Branches where numbers are a problem. Establish a tradition to introduce non members Hand out membership forms to non members Ensure that elections take place and the committee also include members of finance and water Elect a SARPA Affiliate member at each branch to coordinate with AMEU Branch Coordinator Branch Development

PROJECT REPORTS Standardization NRS 080 still under revision - Two year pilot project in Ethekwini in the process of been set up to accurately report losses. Drive to add reconnection fees to NRS 055 - due to the huge differences in this regard at Utilities. Initiative of the cable manufacturers to standardize cable markings to combat non ferrous thefts. Task group has been established in cooperation with SABS and the Cable Manufacturing Association

Non Ferrous Theft Training to commence soon for DSO's Pressure put on police to perform by Service providers New Service provider forum formed to give NFMCCC meeting guidance and ensure proactive actions Media coverage (Soweto incident) good for SARPA SARPA now training Security companies that assist Parastatels PROJECT REPORTS
