State Nickname Vermont is called the Green Mountain State because there are lots of trees and mountains. The mountains look green.

State Symbols Bird – Hermit Thrush Flower – Red Clover Tree - Sugar Maple

State Climate Vermont gets lots of precipitation. Most of that is snow, but also some rain.

State Resources Vermont’s greatest natural resources are forests. Mining is also important.

State Flag This is the state flag and the state seal. The symbols on them show things in Vermont. Like the tree in the middle of both. It is like the nickname.

Famous Person Calvin Coolidge, the 30 th president of the United States, was from Vermont. His father was a farmer in Vermont. He was nicknamed “Silent Cal” and everyone thought he was very smart.

Places to Visit This is a picture of the famous Green Mountain State Park.
