1
Can you name five interesting facts about the Indians who lived in Spanish Fork?
2
Utah Indians were made up of three groups. The group that lived in Spanish Fork was the Utes.
3
The Ute Indians were nomadic desert gatherers. They moved from place to place finding food and making clothing.
4
The Utes had rich copper-colored skin. They did not cut their hair. The men wore it in long braids. Sometimes they would paint their faces yellow and black.
5
Their clothing may have been made from rabbits, buffalo, deer, antelope, or elk.
6
Their home was a tepee made with 10-15 long poles and buffalo or deer hides. It was mostly plain and it could be moved quickly from place to place.
7
In the summer, they made a simple shade from brush and a framework of poles.
8
The Indians mainly ate wild vegetables, mammals, and fish. They liked camas bulbs, bitterroot, grass seeds, wild potatoes, serviceberries, chokecherries, sego lily bulbs, and a little corn.
9
They made and used bows and arrows for hunting. They made axes from stones.
10
The Indians could make waterproof baskets from grass and dishes and jars from baked clay.
