2.  Sphinx were built to guard and protect pyramids and temples  It has the body of a lion and a head of a man believed to be the pharaoh.

3.  The Great Sphinx guards Khufu’s pyramid.  It was built in 3000BC

4.  It is made of lime stone. The Egyptians found the lime stone and hand made the wonderful sculpture. It is one of the most famous ancient Egyptian structures.

5.  It is 20.22m high which is nearly 2 double decker buses on top of each other  It is 73.5m long about the size of a football pitch  It is 19.3 metres wide like 2 double buses next to each other

6.  The Sphinx is in Giza in the north of Egypt
