INTRODUCTION Notre Dame stands in Paris on the banks of the River Seine. It is the first Christian church, Snt Etienne B Alicia which was itself built on the site of a roman temple to Jupiter.

THE CONSTRUCTION IT CONTINUED FOR ANOTHER 200 YEARS.

HOW LONG ITS BEEN STANDING FOR NOTRE DAME HAS BEEN STANDING FOR A REALLY LONG TIME BECAUSE IT HAS BEEN STANDING THROUGH THE MIDDLE AGES.

During the French Revolution anti-Christian extremists looted and badly damaged Notre Dame. Repair and restoration of the church did not begin until 1844. THE FRENCH REVOLUTION.

Like a great many of the churches in Europe, the cathedral of Notre Dame is built on a spot that was formerly used as a pagan temple devoted to the Roman god Jupiter. In the fifth century, after Catholicism had taken hold in Paris, a church was built at the east end of the area occupied by the current cathedral WHERE IT STANDS

Under a law dating to 1905, Notre Dame belongs to the French government, which maintains it, but the Catholic Church has the exclusive right to use the cathedral. THE OWNER
