Citation Formats Usually, a Professor requires citations on a paper to be in either the APA or MLA format. These formats are very different, and they are very exact: periods and commas are very important in each of these formats. If you are not certain of which format to use, check with your Professor. APA format MLA format

APA Format: 1 The rules for the APA format for each type of item being cited are different. In general, the format is: Author’s last name, Initial of author’s first name (if available) (date).Title of work (if this is a journal article, followed by the title of the entire work, italicized). For journals, this is followed by the volume number: issue number (date of publication) (If given): page(s); for books, this is followed by the Place of publication, Publisher. CONTINUE

APA Format: 2 If an item is not a standard item (such as a book or journal article), it will be necessary to consult a style guide, several of which are available on the world wide web. For example, it would be possible to consult a search tool such as google.com, place the subject of apa format and the type of item being cited or simply apa format and obtain many results. APA and MLA Format: 6 On this page, choose either Noodlebib Express: APA citations OR Noodlebib Express: MLA Citations. Once this screen is revealed, simply follow the directions.
