1. Run for City Year UK City Year has a variety of different running challenges that you can take part in. You can choose to do a 10k run, a half marathon, or a full marathon. This is your opportunity to push yourself to reach a goal, whilst raising funds for a charity that makes a real difference to the lives of over 13,000 young people in the UK. “City Year’s helped me with my work and with my friend problems. By harnessing the power of young people, and fostering a culture of voluntary service, City Year tackles two of the biggest issues affecting young people today: under-achievement of children from deprived backgrounds and youth unemployment. City Year utilises the passion of young people, empowering them to be “the change they wish to see in the world”. Volunteering in schools they transform themselves and the children they mentor, tutor and coach. More than 9 in 10 of City Year’s 2013 alumni have now progressed into further education, employment or training. In addition to this more than 90% of pupils said that corps members helped with their learning. It is an ideal event for teams to participate in, so get together with a few friends or work colleagues and start training now! City Year Running Events 2015 Adidas Silverstone Half Marathon When: TBC Where: Silverstone Motor Racing Circuit Distance: 13.1 miles Sponsorship target: £300 Registration fee: £30 Application Deadline: TBC We have TBC guaranteed places available at this fantastic event, which takes participants right around the Silverstone circuit including the pit lanes. Whether training for a full marathon, or tackling the race as a one-off challenge this is the race for you.

3. We realise that agreeing to take part in a running event is a big commitment. Which is why we will be on hand to support you every step of the way, from training all the way to fundraising. Here is a snapshot of some of the things we will do for you: Send regular running tips and training plans, to make sure you run your best race. Frequent check-ins, supporting and motivating you along the way. Help with fundraising, our experienced fundraising team will provide you with fun ideas to help you exceed your target. Help setting up a Virgin Giving page, to collect all of your donations in one simple place You’ll also receive a running vest or t-shirt to wear on the day. Finally we’ll also be there on the day you run, cheering you across the finish line. How We Can Help You Got your own place? City Year and sponsors of the event cannot be held liable for injury, loss or damage caused or sustained as a result of taking part, howsoever arising, nor can they accept any liability for any changes made to the event for safety reasons, or as otherwise planned through circumstances beyond their control. You are urged to comply with the event’s safety guidelines and are advised to obtain insurance to cover personal accident, material loss or damage to personal property and any loss or injury you may cause to a third party. You must be in good health to take part in the challenge as running can be hard work! Participants who have any doubt about their health, or have a medical condition that could be affected by exercise, must obtain approval from their doctor before participating. All participants in the event must aim to raise money for City Year. You should not use any of the sponsorship money you raise to pay for your expenses. All sponsorship money given to you must be passed directly to City Year and you must not give your place to anyone else.
