Indicative Mood indicative mood state facts The indicative mood is a category of verb forms that we use to state facts. Examples: Hot pizza is delicious The roads are slippery in the rain (The speaker thinks these are FACTS)

Imperative Mood imperative mood express orders, instructions, commands or requests The imperative mood is a category of verb forms that we use to express orders, instructions, commands or requests. Examples: Go Outside! (Command) Close the door please. (Request) Do not move the books. (Instruction)

Interrogative Mood interrogative mood ask a question The interrogative mood is a category of verb forms that we use to ask a question. Examples: What are you doing for Thanksgiving? Did you finish your essay? The speaker is asking QUESTIONS

Subjunctive Mood subjunctive mood to express things that are not facts: wishes, possibilities, or things that are uncertain The subjunctive mood is a category of verb forms that we use to express things that are not facts: wishes, possibilities, or things that are uncertain. Example: “I wish I had some cheese.” The mouse is making a WISH

Conditional Mood conditional mood to express something that hasn’t happened or something that can’t happen if a certain condition is met The conditional mood is a category of verb forms that we use to express something that hasn’t happened or something that can’t happen if a certain condition is met. : might, could, should, or would Uses: might, could, should, or would Example: "It might snow tomorrow.“ It is not a fact yet. It is a possibility in the speaker's mind. Incorrect: "It will snow tomorrow."
