3. Standard Definition: a system that defines the performance expectations, structure or process that must be substantial in a place in organization to enhance the quality of care. Standard determine the quality for input,process,output in healthcare organization 3

11. 11 CLEAR STANDARDS Unclear Standard: use antibiotics to treat bacterial meningitis Clear Standard: Treat bacterial meningitis in children with (ceftriaxone), recommended daily dose (100mg/Kg) IV every (12) hours for (10) days.

12. 12 REALISTIC Unrealistic Standards: Nurses working in the ED should have a valid certificate on ATLS Realistic Standard: At least one staff nurse in every shift in the ED should be ATLS certified

13. 13 RELIABLE STANDARD Unreliable Standard:To assess fever in a child, put the palm of your hand on the child’s forehead and estimate the body temperature based on your experience. Reliable Standard:To assess fever in a child, measure the body temperature by placing an oral thermometer under the child’s tongue for three minutes.

14. 14 SUCCESSFUL APPLICATION OF STANDARDS Standards must be communicated to those who are responsible for their application. Ensure that Those who receive the standards : understood it, accepted it, and will accurately implement the necessary tasks.
