Introduction

Introduction of the well-being questionnaire During this BFSG in Leeds we would like to pilot the well-being questionnaire. This will mean that we will be able to measure something that really matters to people.

Why measure well-being? The aim of the Support Group is to improve YOUR WELL-BEING through MUTUAL SUPPORT. Therefore, by measuring well- being we will have more insight into the impact of the support group on meaningful areas of YOUR life.

What is well-being? I Experiencing good feelings &: A sense of individual vitality. Doing activities which make you feel useful and of value. A stock of inner strength (physical and mental) to help you cope when things go wrong and be resilient to changes beyond your immediate control.

What is well-being? II It is essential that people can relate to one another, so in addition to the factors already spoken about. People’s social experience - the degree to which they have a supportive relationship and a sense of connection with others form a vital aspect of well-being.

What is well-being? III High levels of well – being mean that we are able to respond to difference circumstances, to innovate and constructively engage with other people and the world around us.

How have we evaluated the Mutual Support Groups so far?

Current Group Evaluation To be filled in before the event… What things are you most looking forward to this weekend? What things are you most worried about the weekend? What are you hoping to gain or achieve from the group? What changes in yourself would you most likely to see after this weekend? To be filled in before the event… What was good about the weekend? What worked best for you? What could make the weekend better? What things will be different for you now that you’ve been on the weekend? What would you say about coming to the group?

Conclusion Why & How?

Why measure well-being? To be able to have a deeper understanding on the impact of the Mutual Support Groups on peoples lives and make improvements to the service we provide. To be able to see if well-being has improved over time and be able to better demonstrate the impact of your project/service. Help with fundraising :By demonstrating evidence on the needs or issues you are trying to address, you may be able to make a funding application more convincing.

Informed Consent Informed consent will be fully obtained from everyone participating in the questionnaire. This is what the consent form looks like.

Anonymity and Confidentiality When collecting responses from the questionnaires, responses are given anonymously (without any personal information). Personal data needs to be collected and stored in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998.
