Frodsham Library Family Club Bid for £500 Presented by Clare Ashbee Locality Librarian(Rural)

What we want to do... New Frodsham Library is an attractive, safe and free space for the community of Frodsham to access. We would like to bring together the community by establishing a weekly Family Club each Saturday morning. The aim of the group is to enable young and old to come together to share skills, whether it is knitting or skype’ing. The funding (£500) would enable the club to purchase equipment and materials to start the club with the ultimate aim that they would become self sufficient through the sale of items made.

The Frodsham Family Club would allow our communities to take control to enable social inclusion Promote and support access to social networks. Resolve transport issues so that they do not prevent people from participating in the wider community.(In partnership with RVS) Build links with community projects, community centres and schools to increase levels of social contact between people from different generations. Identify, respect and use people’s skills, including the skills of older people gained in previous employment. Give people ordinary opportunities to participate in the wider community through person-centred care planning. Involve people in service planning and ensure ideas and suggestions are acted upon. The Library team are committed to the project to create and support the Family Club, allay fears, engage with community, to the point where the participants want to actively contribute to the enhancement of the library.
