The Liberty Bell The original Liberty Bell was was made by White Chapel Foundry. The original bell was made in 1752. Then the first bell cracked and two men named Pass and Stow made a second bell. The second bell made by Pass and Stow was created in 1753.

Importance of the Liberty Bell The Liberty Bell stands for freedom anti-slavery. The first time the bell was rung it made a very unpleasant noise. The bell is important to the United States of America because it symbolizes the end of slavery and the start of freedom for all people.

Liberty Bell Facts The bell is about 70% copper, 25% tin and contains lead, zinc, arsenic, gold, and silver. The bell weighs about two thousand pounds. The second bell had too much copper. So, when they rang it, it made a big crack. The bell’s crack is ½ inch wide and 24 ½ inches long. The bell was owned by the city of Philadelphia.
