Oxyacetylene Cutting O.A.C. Pattern Cutter Cutting Torch
2
O.A.C. Set-up Similar to O.A.W. Different oxygen pressure Different torch tip
3
Oxygen and Acetylene Regulator Pressures Welding: – Oxygen = 10 psi – Acetylene = 5 psi Cutting: – Oxygen = 25 psi – Acetylene = 5 psi
4
Torch Tip Welding tip = 1 hole Cutting tip = 6 preheat holes, 1 oxygen cutting hole
5
O.A.C. Start-up Procedure Open tank valves – Acetylene = ¼ - ½ turn – Oxygen = All the way
6
Set Regulators to O.A.C. Pressures – Make sure all torch valves are closed – Turn adjusting screw to the right to set pressure – Oxygen = 25 psi – Acetylene = 5 psi
7
Open bottom Oxygen torch valve all the way Clean all holes on the cutting torch tip Light the torch using a striker Set a neutral flame
8
Cuts Edge cut – Heat metal with neutral flame till it is red hot. – Once metal is red hot, hold the torch so the tip of the cones are 1/8” off the metal, slowly press down on the oxygen trigger. – Proceed with cut at proper cutting speed.
9
Piercing cut – Preheat metal in the center of the area that you want to cut away. – Once metal is red hot, increase distance from metal to a ½” and angle the torch to 45 degrees. – Slowly press the oxygen trigger down till a hole is pierced. – Straighten the torch and set your distance back to an 1/8”. – Cut out to the desired cut.
10
O.A.C. Shut-down Procedure Close both tank valves. Purge both lines. Make sure all torch valves are closed. Loosen regulator adjusting screws by turning them to the left 3-4 full turns.
