Purpose Write down the purpose of taking notes. Don’t use complete sentences Use phrases Use words “The purpose of note-taking is simple: to help you study better and more quickly.” Don’t write everything. Write the most important things.

What to write Write down what is new to you. Write down what is relevant to you. That depends on how the notes will be used. Test, essay, or project.
