This World Food Day… © ActionAid / 2013 / 3 Did you know… Lesotho is the only country in the world that is entirely over 1,000 metres above sea level – that’s very high! Lesotho’s population is 2 million (the population of the United kingdom is 63 million) It has a currency called the loti (and each loti is made up of 100 lisente) Nearly two-thirds of the country's earnings come from farming, so growing food is really important for the country.

Live Like Lesotho: Give it up for Lesotho Find out what children eat in Lesotho and give up your favourite food for a week. Live Like Lesotho: Water race Challenge your pupil’s to carry water over long distances, without spilling a drop! Live Like Lesotho: Listen to Lesotho Experience the vibrancy of Lesotho’s culture by listening, playing along and dancing to Lesotho songs. Live Like Lesotho: Drop Scotch A variation of the popular playground game Hop Scotch, with an added Lesotho twist!

This World Food Day… What next? Now what are you waiting for! Do you want to… Grow your own garden? Give it up for Lesotho? Take part in a whizzy water relay race? Make your own music and listen to Lesotho? Or play a traditional Lesotho game of Drop Scotch! Fill in your pledge cards: Before you get started think about why you want to Live Like Lesotho, and the difference you can make to the lives of vulnerable families

This World Food Day… Don’t forget to tell everyone what you’re up to! We’ve got event posters you can stick up around your school and sponsorship forms and letters to take home. We’ve also got a totaliser you can print off and colour in as you raise money. Then you can see exactly the difference you’re making to people in Lesotho! FUNDRAISING FACT £50 could provide enough seeds to ensure a whole family can grow a varied crop, for life.
