4 The Scopes Trial “Trial of the Century” Tennessee, 1925 John Scopes teaching out of Charles Darwin's book Scopes was found guilty on July 21 and ordered to pay a US $100 fine (approximately $1,228 in 2010 when adjusted from 1925 for inflation)

5 Protestants and Prohibition Fundamentalists and other religious people were much in favor for Prohibition! The Anti- Saloon League, “The Protestant Church in action” Long time dream for Protestants Whole nation once more under sway of Protestants moral values

9 Fundamentalism Fundamentalism refers to a belief in a strict adherence to a set of basic principles THE FIVE FUNDEMENTALS:  The inspiration of the Bible by the Holy Spirit and the inerrancy of Scripture as a result of this.  The virgin birth of Christ.  The belief that Christ's death was the atonement for sin.  The bodily resurrection of Christ.  The historical reality of Christ's miracles.
