Phenomenal Photosynthes is Bryanna Wolfe ECE 2320 October 2012 Start Here

Objective: When you get hungry you might decide to raid the cookie jar or ask your mom to make you a sandwich. You do this because humans and animals get energy from the foods they eat. Next

Plants use light energy from the sun to produce the food they need to survive. This process is called Photosynthesis, and it is our source of our life. By the end of this power point you will know all about photosynthesis. Next

Menu: Sun/Light Chlorophyll Water/Carbon Dioxide Conclusion Test (take at the end) Click on the purple flowers to learn more about Photosynthesis.

Sun/Light Sun Light menu Click on the yellow flowers to learn more about Sun and Light.

Sun: Where does it start? The Sun. It is the source of energy for all living things. Next

Sun: Not all of the light from the Sun makes it to the surface of the Earth. Even the light that does make it here is reflected and spread out. Next

Sun: The little light that does make it here is enough for the plants of the world to survive and go through the process of photosynthesis. Next

Light: Light shinning down from the sun is absorbed by the plants cells. These tiny cells are what make up the plant and it’s leaves. How do plants breathe? Next Click on the flower to find out!

Light: Light is actually energy. When this energy gets to a green plant, all sorts of reactions take place to store energy in the form of sugar molecules. Next

Light: Even when light gets to a plant it does not use all of it. It actually uses only certain light frequencies to make photosynthesis happen. Next

Chlorophyll: Chlorophyll is the molecule that absorbs sunlight and uses it is energy. It is a photoreceptor cell, which means it traps the light energy of the sun. Next

Chlorophyll: Chlorophyll is found in chloroplasts of green plants. Chlorophyll is green in color, and is the reason that plants are green! Next

Chlorophyll: Chlorophyll is the compound that traps the suns light to start the process of photosynthesis. In order for plants to photosynthesize, chlorophyll must be present. Next

Water/Carbon Dioxide Water and Carbon Dioxide are two of the main ingredients needed for photosynthesis. The water used by plants for photosynthesis is obtained through the soil. Next

Water/Carbon Dioxide Plant bodies contain a system that is able to pull water up from the soil, through the stem and into the leaves. This process makes water available so photosynthesis can take place. Next

Photosynthesis Cycle Next

Conclusion: Now the end result. The food created by photosynthesis is sent to rest of the plant. After the plants use the suns energy, carbon dioxide, water and their chlorophyll. The plant is fed and oxygen is created for all things alive that are not plants. Next

Conclusion: On Going Cycle… Next
