2. In our attempt to raise the state taxes on cigarettes we hope to decrease the smoking in our state. This will work because if the taxes are raised even by a couple of cents, fewer people can afford them.With fewer adults smoking, it will give us a healthier and cleaner community

3. If we raise taxes on cigarettes, then the citizens of the community will buy fewer cigarettes because they won’t be able to afford them.

4. We are trying to raise the taxes in Washington State. We are going to write a letter to Kevin Ranker explaining what we are doing.We are not expecting to actually raise the taxes we just want our point across.

In Washington the price of cigarettes is the fifth highest at more than $2.00 a pack. 24,000 smokers (35%) would quit if the taxes were raised to $3.00 While they hesitate to raise the taxes they are literally a threat the both people who smoke and people who don’t. Forty One Million fewer packs of cigarettes would be sold in the united states There would be 6,300 fewer deaths in Washington

6. We were not actually able to do what our hypothesis said and raise the actual taxes on cigarettes. We did although send a letter to Kevin Ranker. We found out that at least 24,000 smokers would quit.
