2 "To teach is to learn twice" This is your chance to take ownership in your classroom. You will be designing a lesson plan and teaching a 30 min lesson on the literary device of your choice. You will need to “teach” (present) the literary device, have a student activity, and end with a student assessment. *** This is considered your FINAL REVIEW***

4 What do you want to teach? Pick one of the 9 Literary devices from our Poetry unit ImageryMetaphorSimilePersonification Tone through Diction Alliteration Dramatic Poetry/(Dialogue/Monologue) AllusionSymbolism 1 st come 1 st serve. No repeat devices.

5 Structure - Structure -Required Lesson Components PowerPoint (you are directly teaching the class) Check for Understanding (you ask the class a mixture of high- level and low-level questions to ensure they are understanding the lesson) Group Work (students are completing an activity that requires high-level thinking) Quiz (written by the group; there must be a minimum of 5 questions-2 low-level, 3 high-level)

7 Documents : Required “teacher” work Lesson Plan: Turn in a lesson plan that details the activities you will be doing (Due one class period before your presentation) Rubric/ Quiz Key: How will you grade the assessment you give to your peers? Student Data: Grade the peer assessment you gave to the class & turn in the data to Ms. Garcia Homework: (optional) Grade the homework and turn in the student data to Ms. Garcia

11 You must assess your peers After doing a “mini-lesson and teaching the class your literary device, you must assess the level of understanding your peers have on the lesson you have just taught. You can use assessment strategies such as: Kahoot Kahoot Socrative Socrative Exit Slip Exit Slip Paper Quiz Paper Quiz 1.You must create an answer key of right/wrong answers or a rubric on how you will grade them. 2.You must also grade the quizzes and give the student data to Ms. Garcia
