Aim: Children write and classify their names in alphabetical order Objectives: Children should be able to Write their own name Arrange the names in alphabetical order Prerequisite Children are able to identify alphabets

MIE- Education Studies Department-ONV 3 Additional Outcome: Numeracy Children should be able to number their name sheet count the number of boys and girls in class State who is in larger number/ lesser number and by how much Write a sentence to state this. Prerequisite Children know how to count orally.

MIE- Education Studies Department-ONV 4 Procedures Children recall alphabets using charts at random Children write their own names on a strip of vanguard (bristol) paper- Half A4- in big letters Teacher asks Children whose names start with letter A to come in front of class. –Should there be more than one, they are all invited to come in front of the class, show their names to the class. –Children are invited to look at the second letters and then decide who should be in the second and third place and so on.… After agreeing on the order, each student is invited to stick his/her name on chart 1 –If there is only one student with a particular alphabet, s/he is invited to paste it on the sheet prepared by the teacher. (see: chart 1)

5. MIE- Education Studies Department-ONV 5 Numeracy skills (optional) Children take turns to go and number their name one by one Ask one child to write the number of boys on a sheet and paste it at the bottom Another child does the same for girls

MIE- Education Studies Department-ONV 6 Literacy & Numeracy Children are encouraged to find out who is more- boys or girls They can also be asked to find out by how much one is more than the other & by how much one is less than the other. Complete simple sentences in a group; –There are … boys in my class –There are ….. (more/fewer) boys in my class. –There are …… (more/fewer) girls in my class. –There are fewer boys than girls in my class etc..

I Ali Bernard Materials Bristol sheet: coloured Half A4 size vanguard strips of different colours Coloured pencils Glue This sheet can be displayed at the entrance of the classroom BOYS GIRLS 15 Girls Our names in alphabetical order Numeracy: Children are asked to number the list of names Children write the number of boys/girls on a different sheet and paste it at the bottom.

I Materials Bristol sheet: coloured Half A4 size paper of different colours Coloured pensils Glue My class has 14 boys and 15 girls. We have more girls in the class.
