3 Answer Leading: Line spacing measured in points. Point: A unit of measurement used in desktop publishing and graphic design

4 Lets Review Insert Mode: The method of operation used for inserting new text within existing in a document. – Insert Mode is default Overtype Mode: The method of operation used to replace existing text in a document with new text Use ESC key to cancel a command Use Undo, Redo, and repeat command on the Quick Access tool bar

5 Review Continues Open a blank word document Type the following text: Integrated Business Application Can Be FUN!!! – Right click the status bar – Click Overtype on the menu – Close menu – Click file and Options – Click Advanced to display the advanced options – Select “Use the Insert key to control overtype” and “Use overtype mode” – Click OK – Position cursor – Type

8 Why Learn these Skills Horizontal and Vertical alignment improves the appearance of a document and make it easier to read. Using the right amount of space between lines and paragraphs makes the pages look better and text easier to read. It is important to achieve the standard page set-up for documents such as memos and letters

9 Vocabulary Words Horizontal Alignment: The position of text across a line in relation to the left and right margins Leading: Line spacing measured in points Line spacing: The amount of white space between lines of text in a paragraph Paragraph Spacing: The amount of white space between paragraphs. Point: A unit of measure used in desktop publishing and graphic design Vertical Alignment: The position of text in relation to top and bottom page margins.

10 Practice and Assignment Read Chapter 4 and complete the “Try It” Activities – This will prepare you for the “Create It and Apply it Assignment. Assignments: – Project 7 pg 112 – Project 8 pg 113-114 – Retype the memo using one of Word’s memo templates To obtain template Open MS Word  Click File  then new  Memo template should be located under “Office.com templates”  row three  last item. PRINT PROJECT 8 AND MEMO TEMPLATE

11 Create Your Assessment Using Your Notes, Class Presentations, textbook, etc create a 20 item list of things you have learned or should know how to do. Put your name in the header, type your list, print it, and turn it in to me
