Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) The Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) is the lead agency charged with: Formulating the federal government’s health IT strategy Coordinating federal health IT policies, standards, programs, and investments, and ONC supports and/or leads the following initiatives: – HITECH Programs – Health IT Certification Program – National Quality Strategy – Interoperability Roadmap – Delivery System Reform 1

Nationwide Interoperability Roadmap Published by ONC in January 2015 to guide the nation towards meeting the goal of sharing information more broadly across providers, consumers and others. Defines how the government in collaboration with the private sector should approach sharing electronic health information and addresses the collaborative impact of all stakeholders in advancing interoperable health information. 5
