Chinese New Year The Chinese New Year originates from china. The Chinese New Year is celebrated once every year. New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day are celebrated as a family, a time for reunion and thanksgiving ‘ Chinese New Year last for 15 Days’ ~~~Starts with the new moon on the 1 st day of the New Year and Ends on the full moon 15 days later~~~

Interesting Facts The 1 st day is “the Welcoming od the Gods… 2 nd day, the Chinese pray to their ancestors … 3 rd & 4 th day is for the Son-in-laws to pat respect to their parents-in-laws… 5 th day, people stay at home to welcome the god of Wealth… 6 th to the 10 th day, people visit their friend and relatives freely. They also visit the temples to pray for good fortune… 7 th day is for the farmers to display their produce. These farmers make a drink from seven types of vegetables to celebrate the occasion… 8 th day, they have another family reunion dinner and at midnight they pray to the god of heaven. 9 th day is to make offering to the Jade Emperor… 10 th through to 12 th are days that friends and relatives should be invited for Dinner… 13 th day – after so much rich food this day is for simple rice an mustard greens to clean the system… 14 th day is to prepare the lantern for the 15 th Day… 15 th day – Celebrate the Lantern Festival….

Why this festival is Different to the Celebrations in New Zealand? This celebration is different to New Zealand because The Chinese New Year starts with a new moon and for The Chinese New Year they eat different food durring their celebartion.
