3 Orientation Agenda Introductions Overview of Institute Experience Preparing for the Institute Summer Updates Questions

4 Role of Team Leaders Communication Conduit –Gather info from DOE and Team Members –Disseminate information to DOE and Team Members –Check periodically for institute updates Team Organizer –Coordinate team activities prior to and during institute to maximize institute experience

5 Assumptions Your team has chosen to focus on professional learning related to intentional planning and high quality instruction that supports achievement of proficiency with the ELA/literacy standards. Your team has completed its homework in advance of attending the institute Your team will reflect on and plan for how to disseminate the learning from the institute with educators in your school/district

6 Anticipated Outcomes Increase understanding of the level of complexity and rigor inherent in the standards and assessment system that lead to college and career readiness; Examine instructional strategies that directly support students in achieving proficiency; Learn how to “bundle” or group multiple standards to develop text sets and units of study through which students can build proficiency; and Begin to construct a unit of study for the upcoming school year.

9 Institute Logistics Meals –Continental breakfast (pastries and juice) –Coffee and water all day –Light lunch Team Work Times –Structured with specific tasks –Working within and across grade spans Contact Hours and Evaluations
