5. To secure oil fields  Oil is biggest source of income in Iraq.  Some wells set on fire, if there had been further destruction to resources, consequences would have been horrible.  America was expected to secure the wells  Oil secured by selling most to Western countries.

6. Goal achieved?  Yes, but by selling to Western countries, not by giving the resources to Iraq.
