Appearance Most penguins are black and white. Penguins have short, stiff feathers and fat to keep them warm. Some penguins have orange and yellow necks. The Macaroni Penguin has yellow hair.

Habitat Penguins mostly live in Antarctica. Penguins habitats are covered with ice and snow. Some Penguins live in Africa, New Zealand, South America and Australia.

Babies Penguins lay one or two eggs a year. The baby penguins poke their beaks through the egg and it breaks. The penguins’ babies are black, white,and gray.

Movement Penguins waddle to get to places. On land, penguins slide on their bellies to move faster. A penguin will drop 70 feet just to get food in the water.

What they eat Penguins eat krill. Sometimes they eat squid. They eat some fish.

Interesting facts Penguins burrow to hide their babies. Penguins have wings but they can’t fly at all. Penguins return to their habitats year after year. The King Penguins have much longer beaks than others. Penguins usually spend most of their time under the sea.
