Found: In the air. In the respiratory tract of an infected person. When: As early as October until May

Causative agent: various types of influenza viral strains. Scientific name: Influenza Avian influenza (bird flu): Orthomyxoviridae Classified by its type. Either A, B, or C.

4 SYMPTOMS ORGANS/ ORGAN SYSTEMS AFFECTED: Fever (high, around +100°F)
Headache Tiredness/ weakness/ fatigue Sore throat Cough (dry) Body aches Runny or stuffy nose Diarrhea or vomiting (common for children) Chills and sweats Loss of appetite ORGANS/ ORGAN SYSTEMS AFFECTED: Respiratory system, lungs

5 TRANSMITTED Influenza is highly contagious. It is transmitted through the air from an infected person. The viruses are carried by droplets from coughing or sneezing.

6 History/ Facts There is a vaccine available against the flu.
It is a good idea to wash your hands regularly to kill possible germs. The most famous and lethal outbreak in history was the Spanish flu pandemic. ( ) Death has occurred due to the flu.
