1 Driver Information Resource Introduction and User Lessons

2 What is Driver Information Resource (DIR)? DIR is a web-based lookup capability that provides easy access to individual driver safety performance and compliance history – Contains data on ~3.5 million drivers – Allows a user to search by driver for a driver’s crash and inspection history regardless of a driver’s employment history – Allows a user to search by carrier for a driver’s crash and inspection history while operating for the carrier – Available to FMCSA and state enforcement personnel

3 DIR is derived from MCMIS event records – 5 years of crash data with ~500k crash records – 3+ years of inspection data with ~10.5 million inspection records Data processing groups events into driver histories – Basic data cleanup is performed on the driver identification fields in the crash and inspection records – Advanced matching algorithms are implemented to match crash and inspection events by driver identification fields to form driver histories Where does DIR data come from?
