3. Education and Certification GSWCC is revising all course material, starting with Level IA. The Level IA revision will be completed in October and a pilot course offered in November Changes: Two manuals for each course Student manual - will read more like a text book Trainer manual - guide for trainers that will prompt an interactive course. A summary page at the beginning of each section. Thorough index to locate information Exam questions will be revised to correlate with new material

5. The Manual for Erosion and Sediment Control in Georgia (Manual) Contains standards and specifications that are followed and practiced in the State of Georgia. Chapter 6 focuses on specifications for planning, design and installation of E&S measures

6. 319 BMP Grant GOALS: Establish a process and procedures for accepting new practices into the Manual. Revise outdated information Incorporate information from other related manuals (Stormwater/DOT)

7. BMP Grant Objectives Establish a Technical Advisory Committee that will be responsible for : Determining what tests and test methods should be accepted and adopted by GSWCC. Establishing procedures and criteria for accepting new practices into the Manual. Act as subject matter experts to GSWCC regarding other revisions to the Manual. Determine criteria for testing facilities

9. BMP Grant Objectives Determine what tests and test methods should be accepted and adopted by GSWCC for the following BMPs: Sediment Barriers (Silt fencing) Inlet sediment traps Tackifiers and binders Checkdams Channel stabilization Polyacrylamide (PAM)

10. BMP Grant Objectives Contracted with TRI Environmental, Inc to conduct testing for sediment barriers and checkdams

12. Sediment Barriers Selected a test that incorporates ASTM standards. The test was chosen because it best represents “real world” conditions. Tested practices for Type A, B and C applications Used a soil mixture that is common in GA Test simulated 2,4,6 hour rain events

15. General Revisions Working with state and federal agencies to update information and technical guidance. Recommending the adoption of new practices –Temporary Sediment Traps –Silt curtains

16. Expected Outcome Once the grant has been completed, GSWCC will have established benchmark standards for specific BMPs in the Manual that new practices will be reviewed against. New practices that meet or exceed current standards will be considered for inclusion into the Manual.

17. Public Comment Period A draft of the revised Manual will be released for a public comment period before changes are finalized.
