1 The Atmosphere of the Early Church Acts 2:41-47 “And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved”
2
2 The Atmosphere of the Church What do visitors see and hear when they enter the local church (1 Cor. 14:23-25)? What “message” do the church members send to others? “And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved”

3 The Atmosphere of the Church We need to follow the pattern of the NT church in our work, worship, organization, etc. But what about following their pattern of attitude (atmosphere)? Consider the atmosphere of the early NT church (Acts 2:41-47). What do outsiders need to see when they visit us? “And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved”
4
4 Genuine in Conversion These early Christians were urgent to obey; hearty reception; immediate change (2:41) They did not just “go through the motions” of conversion (Acts 2:37; Rom. 16:17) There was no love loss here (Mt. 24:12; Rev. 2:5) “And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved”
5
5 Steadfast in Commitment These early Christians were committed to soundness; persevered in what was right (2:42, 36; see also 8:13) They were devoted to spiritually-minded activities like prayer (Acts 1:14; 6:4; Rom. 12:12; Col. 4:2) “And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved”
6
6 Fearful in Demeanor These early Christians had a sense of awe (2:43) They took seriously the work of God (Acts 5:5, 11; 19:17) They walked with reverence and respect for God (Acts 9:31; 2 Cor. 7:1; 1 Pet. 1:17) “And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved”
7
7 Selfless in Giving These early Christians were selfless and sacrificial with their possessions (2:44-45) They thought of their brethren before themselves (Acts 4:32-37) “And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved”
8
8 United in Worship These early Christians were together in worship in the temple (2:46) They were there united in teaching others (Acts 5:42) “And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved”
9
9 Joyous in Living These early Christians lived happy, uncomplicated, unencumbered lives (2:46) They were joyful in the Lord (Phil. 3:1; 4:4) “And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved”
10
10 Praising in Character These early Christians praised God for all his blessings (2:47) Praising God comes after one witnesses his outpouring of good (Lk. 2:13, 20; 19:37; Acts 3:8-9; Rom. 15:11; Rev. 19:5) “And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved”
11
11 Favorable in Example These early Christians impressed others with their positive, constructive living; they noticed on account of their pious conduct (2:47) They lived right and were noticed and accepted by God and the common people (Lk. 2:52; Mk. 12:37) “And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved”
12
12 The Atmosphere of the Church Do these attitudes exist among us: genuineness, steadfastness, respect, generousness, unity, joy, praise, favor? The Lord will add to our number when these attitudes are present “And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved”
