Enrichment operations at Portsmouth were discontinued by United States Enrichment Corporation (USEC) on May 11, 2001 Site returned from United States Enrichment Corporation to DOE in 2011. FBP currently performing some Maintenance Actions in preparation of D&D. Performed plant characterization in FY2012. 6

8. www.energy.gov/EM 8 Recent Announcements The formal Record of Decision (ROD) for the Process Buildings and Complex Facilities D&D Project has been approved with Ohio EPA that DOE’s decision for the D&D of the plant’s three large process buildings (each more than 30 acres under roof) and other facilities and auxiliary systems.formal Record of Decision Several hundred comments were reviewed and considered in the ROD’s final language. A waste disposition decision Ohio EPA and DOE has been approved that calls for the construction of an on-site waste disposal facility as part of the remedy for more than 2 million cubic yards of D&D waste. Waste that does not meet the approved acceptance criteria for the onsite facility will be shipped off site for disposal at appropriate licensed federal or commercial disposal facilities.waste disposition decision

RCRA cell is not included in WCS radioactive material license. PPPO is developing Authorized Limits for the WCS RCRA cell.
