2 HISTORY Pop music is a Music that developed from the mid-1950s as a softer alternative to Rock n Roll. It has a focus on commercial recording, often oriented towards a youth market, usually through the medium of relatively short and simple love songs. While these basic elements of the genre have remained fairly constant, pop music has absorbed influences from most other forms of popular music, particularly borrowing from the development of rock music, and utilizing key technological innovations to produce new variations on existing themes. Pop has now generated especially in the uk, to what we class a uk urban music. Pop has inputs of genres like, hip hop, rock and etc. Pop music has become on of the worlds most popular and famous type of music.

9 Demographic Due to research I found out that genres don’t have an age limit, only the songs may be disturbing or x-rated to young listeners. Pop and rock music is based on opinions any age or person can like a particular type of music. Both rock and pop are issue all around the world, however the main stars generate from the uk and usa. Michael Jackson and the Beatles.

10 ROCK PUBLIC PECEPTION The public have many perceptions of Rock and its listeners as a whole, particularly those that do not indulge in the genre whatsoever. AUDIENCE – rock music is mainly expected to appeal to Caucasian people despite allegedly stemming back to the slaves of America. CHARACTER OF AUDIECE– it is widely believed that listeners of rock are withdrawn in character and suppress feelings of anger and depression. This Nis a stereotype and a misconception. BEHAVIOUR OF AUDIENCE – listeners of rock are expected to practise anti-social behaviour and exclude themselves from the company of others, who are unlike them. Other, very serious conceptions are that they take all part in negative activity such as drug use, devil worship and self-harm. SATANISM – rock and roll is heavily associated with devil worship or atheism. This is a common belief and although this may be true in some cases, it certainly isn’t for all. More recently hip hop and rap has come under fire for such activity, thus diverting the attention away from rock. ANGER – rock is a genre that is mainly performed in raised harsh voices, giving it the impression that it is an expression of anger; however, a lot of people do feel the opposite effects in the consumption if this music.

11 POP PUBLIC PECEPTION The public have many perceptions of pop and its listeners as a whole, particularly those that do not indulge in the genre whatsoever. AUDIENCE- Pop was only found interesting by White people as the others where in to there hip hop and Indian music etc. now pop has expanded and is not limited to any races or culture. CHARACTER OF AUDIECE– it is widely believed that listeners of pop are happy and enjoy the feeling of good music and dancing. BEHAVIOUR OF AUDIENCE- pop is feeling good music, so it makes people feel good and dance.
